To minimize discomfort, hold the skin surrounding the area you are removing hair from taut. Gently glide, do not apply pressure the Emjoi epilatior in short, quick, brush like or sweeping motions in the direction of hair growth.
Note: For your protection, you unit may slow down if it is pressed too hard against the skin.
Can I use the Emjoi Epilator anywhere on my face?
No. Emjoi epilators are only intended to remove individual hair from the upper lip and chin but you must hold the surrounding skin taut. Do not use the units like you would an electric razor on your entire face. They are only intended to be used on the upper lip and chin.
Can I use the Emjoi Epilator on my bikini line and underarms?
Yes. Before removing hair from the bikini line or underarms it is important to use a loofa sponge in a warm shower or bath to remove dead skin and prevent ingrown hairs. Since these areas can be sensitive, it is important to hold the skin taut.
Will my hair grow back as fast as it does when I shave?
No. With shaving you are cutting the hair at the surface, so it grows back quickly and leaves rough stubble. When you epilate you are removing hair from the root so it takes longer, up to 4-6 weeks, to grow back.
Does the epilation hurt?
The first time you use your Emjoi epilator you might feel a prickling sensation, this feeling is due to the fact you are removing hair from the root. After several uses, the tweezing action becomes more comfortable even for those with sensitive skin.
What can I do for ingrown hairs?
We recommend using a loofa or an exfoliation cream in the shower or bath to soften the skin and any ingrown hairs, enabling the Emjoi Emagine to remove the hair from the root. If any irritation remains for more than 3 days, discontinue use and consult with your health care provider.
Should I let someone else use my unit?
No. For sanitary reasons Emjoi epilators are only recommended to be used by one person.
I have varicose veins; can I use Emjoi epilators?
Regarding any medical issues or questions, we strongly advise you to consult with your health care provider prior to use.
How can I clean my Emjoi epilator?
You can use the brush provided to remove hair from the tweezers. To remove residue you can use a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol, that has been squeezed dry so it is not soaking wet, and brush it over the tweezers. Make sure your unit is turned OFF.
Do the blades on my unit need to be sharpened?
They are not blades they are stainless steel tweezers and they do not need to be sharpened.
Are Emjoi epilators only for women?
No. We now offer an epilator designed specifically for men’s needs, the AP-18MS eMagine 4 Men. We design our other epilation products for women and their hair type. We do not recommend our other epilators for men.
What types of batteries can I use with my Emjoi epilator? Can I use rechargeable batteries?
We only recommend the use of alkaline batteries with our battery-operated units.
